Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in Accra, Ghana, Yasser’s artistic journey began in childhood, deeply influenced by the rich traditional crafts and textiles of his upbringing. As he grew older, his fascination with contemporary art developed, leading him to merge traditional elements with modern techniques.

This evolution is especially evident in ‘Our First Ride, an oil pastel work rendered on Aso-oke fabric—an evocative ceremonial textile *traditionally associated with* celebratory occasions in Nigeria.

This poignant artwork transports viewers to the 1960s, further capturing a moment of pure joy as young siblings embark on their first bike ride together. Drawing inspiration from vintage West African family photographs, Yasser skilfully evokes feelings of nostalgia and warmth, while also celebrating the innocence of childhood. ‘

The painting serves as a reminder of the fundamental role that family plays in fostering joy and unity within communities.

Yasser passionately advocates for the power of art as a vehicle for social change. Through his diverse portfolio—ranging from vibrant paintings to impactful murals as well as digital art—he strives to create a dialogue around issues of social justice and equality.
