The program, now in its fourth year, provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development for early-career curators. This year’s participants come from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, spanning multiple disciplines in the visual arts.

They include Senegalese architect and multidisciplinary artist Diarietou Nasradine Diop; Lagos-based curator Eyimofe Rita Ideh; and Ivorian curator and visual artist Kpingni-Maureen Douabou. South Africa is represented by five curators, including Muyon Danyela Mafulu, Onke Ngcuka, Palesa Ngwenya, Phumelele Kunene, and Zandile Makroti. The cohort also features Ethiopian curator Nafkot Gebeyehu and Sudanese artist-curator Reem Aljeally.

Participants will engage in peer review sessions and one-on-one mentorship, working closely with established curators. They will also develop their curatorial projects, which will culminate in online exhibitions scheduled to launch on November 5, 2025.

According to the program organizers, the CuratorLab aims to bridge theory and practice while fostering long-term professional growth. This year’s cohort reflects a broad range of interests, from exploring cultural heritage and memory to addressing social and environmental issues through art.

By providing emerging curators with practical experience and professional networks, the RMB Latitudes CuratorLab continues to influence the continent’s contemporary art scene. Observers note that the program helps participants develop critical curatorial skills while amplifying diverse African artistic voices.

The program runs to October 15, 2025, and culminates with curated online exhibitions accessible through Latitudes Online.
