Joseph Gerassi, the executive head at Redhill School and the festival director, announced that this year’s event promises to be the largest yet. The festival will highlight a variety of student works, including an art exhibition, an orchestra and choir festival, and the Sunday marimba festival. Some finalists from this year’s Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts (FEDA) competition will also participate in the showcase. Gerassi emphasized the festival’s mission to foster a love for the performing arts among young people and support the growth of future artists.

A highlight of the festival is the three-day artisanal market, featuring over 60 curated stalls. Attendees can enjoy a variety of street food, a beer tent/gin bar by SA Breweries, and live music acts, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

A new addition this year is the book festival, which will feature author readings, writing workshops led by award-winning novelists, and live podcasting sessions, adding a literary dimension to the festival

The theatre line-up for this year’s festival is impressive, with productions such as “Vincent,” “Actress,” “Every Brilliant Thing,” “The Return of Elvis Du Pisanie,” and “Be a Better Dog.” The festival will make full use of the school’s extensive grounds, offering a wide range of activities for all ages, ensuring there is something for everyone.

The main stage will host performances by several prominent South African artists. Highlights include Watershed on Friday evening, the Mzanzi Youth Choir and Lady Zamar on Saturday evening, and Jesse Clegg with Zolani Mahola as well as the Feminine Force on Sunday afternoon. The children’s program features five professional theatre productions such as “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” and “Space Rocks,”. These will all ensure that the younger attendees are entertained and inspired.
