Opening on October 17th at Open Space #15, Portia Zvavahera’s solo debut at the Fondation Louis Vuitton marks her first exhibition in France. She invites viewers into her phantasmagorical universe filled with an interwoven tapestry of the spiritual and physical. Her paintings bridge dreams and daily life, offering glimpses into the sacred spaces that lie between them. Through animals, human figures, and ghostly presences, Portia’s work reflects an ongoing dialogue with the spirit realm. Moreover, her works illustrate how intense emotions and visions shape her waking world. These creatures and figures act as ethereal guides, moving between dimensions. They also embody spiritual messages and lead the viewer into a realm where the material and spiritual coexist.

Since its founding in 2014, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has continued to enhance public access to arts and culture. They do this by highlighting the unique voices that deepen our understanding of diverse cultural expressions. Portia’s Zvavahera resonates deeply with the foundation’s mission as it explores universal themes through a distinctly personal and spiritual lens. Her paintings are deeply rooted in traditional Zimbabwean spiritual practices. This transforms the works into a dialogue; a meeting of two worlds. through her distinctive artistic style, embodies an intersection of the seen and unseen worlds

This debut not only provides an intimate look into Portia’s inner world but also offers a broader meditation on the nature of existence and the connections we share with forces beyond our everyday perception. Through her art, she underscores the delicate line that separates our reality from the mysteries of the spirit world. By opening this door to the unknown, Portia’s work compels audiences to consider the spaces where the tangible meets the intangible and the physical becomes one with the divine
