Investec Cape Town Art Fair Celebrate its 10 Year Anniversary

Investec Cape Town Art Fair hosts its 10th anniversary edition from the 17 to the 19 February 2023 to mark over a decade as the city’s leading visual contemporary art event. Investec Cape Town Art Fair presents a wide range of artists, visitors, collectors and art enthusiasts. The fair offers an intimate experience of the largest contemporary art fair in Africa and provides a platform for collectors, galleries, curators, artists, and art journalists from around the globe to create connections. Investec Cape Town Art Fair has always been invested in connecting artists with galleries and collectors, while showcasing fresh talent and masterpieces in the making. It is a platform that connects the fast-growing African art market with the international art world.

The theme of the 10th anniversary of Investec Cape Town Art Fair titled “In and Out of Time” explores the notion of time and cuts across a wide range of ideas regarding the past, present and future, a good example is the inevitable concept of change that comes with the passage of time for human beings and the world we live in. 

Over the past decade, numerous galleries have participated in the Art fair including galleries across Southern Africa. Notable galleries from Angola, Tunisia and Ivory Coast have also been represented at the fair. This increased traction has arrested the attention of European galleries looking to connect with the African art market. Now, the Investec Cape Town Art Fair boasts of a combination of local and international exhibitors.

Investec Cape Town Art Fair creates space to engage in complex debates and stimulating conversation that examines the contemporary art scene of the region, and beyond that, the impact of contemporary African art on the diaspora. The conversations do not only include fine art practitioners, it also takes into account the experiences of cultural figures, architects, critics and educators.

The city of Cape Town itself will be a major artwork on display during Investec Cape Town Art Fair, filled to capacity with special exhibitions and projects happening all over town. Guided tours are made available to visitors who want a full immersion in the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the city, and its vibrant local art scene. The gallery night also adds another layer to the visual experience and promises an interesting view of Cape Town and its visual art scene.
