Renowned artist Hassan Hajjaj has partnered with 1-54 Art Fair to create limited-edition prints to support the victims of the recent earthquake in Morocco. This collaborative initiative aims to help those affected by the earthquake that claimed over 3,000 lives in Morocco. The sale proceeds from the prints will support the affected Marrakech victims through the Assafou Association.
Situated within the Al Haouz Provincial Offices of Development Associations, the Assafou Association for Development is devoted to the advancement of Marrakech. This non-profit organization is committed to improving educational prospects for children and women in rural communities nestled in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.
Hassan Hajaj, a Morrocan-born artist, has a close relationship with Morocco as his works reflect the vibrant city of Marrakech. The partnership between Hassan Hajjaj and 1-54 reflects a shared commitment to making a positive impact after the disaster. The National Portrait Gallery will display some limited edition prints in November. These prints will serve as anchors during the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize 2023.
Additionally, 1-54 will donate some of its ticket sales revenue to the Assafou Association. 1-54 will also feature a work by Hassan Hajjaj in their 20 / 21st Century Day Sale, Christie’s, scheduled for Saturday, October 14th, 2023. This sale will also channel the proceeds towards the Assafou Association, amplifying the impact of their collective efforts.
Morocco holds a special place in 1-54’s heart, having been the home of its February edition since 2018. The vibrant nation’s rich culture and resilient spirit have inspired the organization, making this charitable endeavor even more meaningful. Looking forward enthusiastically, 1-54 eagerly anticipate their return to Morocco in February 2024. To show your support, visit the 1-54 London Art Fair from October 12th to 15th, 2023.
