The Goethe-Institut has launched a new call for proposals offering mobility grants of up to €4,000 for artists and cultural professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa and the European Union.

Announced via social media, the initiative forms part of the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture and seeks to expand opportunities for collaboration, exchange, and artistic growth.
The programme enables artists to travel across regions, engage with local cultural scenes, and reach new audiences. By supporting tours, residencies, and professional collaborations, the scheme encourages both South-South dialogue within Africa and South-North partnerships between Africa and Europe. Organisers say the aim is not only to strengthen artistic mobility but also to open new markets, promote regional talent, and build sustainable networks of exchange.
Applications are open to individuals aged 18 and above from a wide range of disciplines, including performing arts, music, literature, film, media arts, cultural heritage, design, architecture, and fashion. Both emerging and established professionals are encouraged to apply. The funding covers travel, accommodation, visas, insurance, and related costs, while also supporting hybrid and digital projects that widen access to participation.
The next round of applications closes on 15 October 2025, and applicants must submit through the Goethe Application Portal. The institute stresses that successful applications should demonstrate clear goals, realistic budgets, and meaningful engagement with host communities or partner organisations.
