ANA Presents to you another episode of Studio Visits Nigeria hosted by Jonas Schwarz Lausten. This episode features artist, Uchay Joel Chima.
He has produced numerous avant-garde works using various mediums, including performance art videos and two-dimensional found object sculptures.
His work focuses on social and environmental issues because he is particularly interested in them. A stunning series of abstract conceptual works and creative drawings fashioned from wire and string were introduced in 2013 as a response to criticism that his emphasis on the avant-garde meant he was unable to draw. The pieces reflect his interest in mixed media while also showcasing his extraordinary talent at sculpting human figures and body parts.
Contemporary and modern Nigerian art is full of passion, humor, opinions, strength, and diversity. This and much more are what you will get insights into in this podcast series.
