Akademie Schloss Solitude, in partnership with the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the Goethe‑Institut Namibia, has opened applications for its 2025 residency program. The initiative seeks to foster meaningful artistic exchange between Namibia and Baden‑Württemberg.

Starting March 1, 2026, the program will host two Namibian artists in Stuttgart for six months. During their stay, the residents will engage with local artistic communities and present their work through exhibitions, workshops, readings, and discussions. Furthermore, the program will reciprocate: two artists from Baden‑Württemberg will travel to Namibia in 2026 under a separate call.
To apply, individuals must:
- Hold Namibian citizenship.
- Demonstrate strong English proficiency.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Not be enrolled in undergraduate or vocational training (PhD candidates may apply).
The fellowship provides:
- A furnished live/work studio with utilities.
- A monthly stipend of €1,300.
- €2,000 in project and materials funding.
- Return travel costs.
- Visa support and health insurance.
Applicants must submit the following in English (PDF only) via email to s.thieroff@akademie-solitude.de:
- A one-page motivation letter explaining their interest in working in Baden‑Württemberg.
- A one-page project proposal detailing their objectives and plans for community engagement abroad.
- A short biography and visual portfolio of recent work.
Applications close on July 8, 2025 (24:00 CET). An international jury will select the two fellows. Funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden‑Württemberg, this residency underscores the region’s commitment to cross‑cultural collaboration.
