The highly anticipated event will take place from September 21 to 27, with programs scheduled across ten venues in the capital city.

This year’s theme, “Re-imagining the African Renaissance,” aims to blend art, health, trade, climate action, gender equity, and tourism into one powerful celebration of African culture. More than 500 artists will perform daily, showcasing the richness of African music, dance, fine art, literature, fashion, and theatre. Organizers have also planned wellness activities, panel discussions, and cultural exhibitions to enrich the experience.

The festival will begin with a two-day road carnival, featuring over 1,000 participants traveling from Nigeria through Benin and Togo to Ghana. This symbolic journey will celebrate African unity and creativity. Once in Accra, guests will experience durbars of chiefs, cultural dances, and live performances that spotlight the continent’s diversity.

Importantly, the festival opens on September 21, the birthdate of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president and also a key figure in Pan-African history. The closing day, September 27, coincides with World Tourism Day, emphasizing the strong link between cultural celebration and economic growth.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, FESTAC Africa Chairman Engr. Yinka Abioye declared, “Ghana is ready to lead Africa into a new era of pride, purpose, and partnership.” He emphasized that FESTAC is more than an event-it’s a movement to inspire the next generation of African thinkers, leaders, and creators.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Tourism Authority sees FESTAC Africa 2025 as a strategic opportunity to boost tourism, support local creatives, and deepen cultural ties across the continent.
