1952 Africa proudly announces the opening of applications for the 3rd edition of its Art Accelerator.

This highly anticipated annual program is designed to propel the careers of early-stage artists through an intensive 8-week residency. Participants will benefit from essential resources, expert mentorship, and valuable networking opportunities to cultivate a thriving art practice.

The accelerator invites artists working in all mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, filmmaking, performance art, installation, and digital art, to apply. By providing a platform for diverse artistic expressions, the program aims to foster a rich and dynamic creative community. 1952 Africa encourages Anglophone artists aged 18 to 35 in West Africa to participate, highlighting the program’s commitment to supporting emerging talent in the region.

The theme for this year is DIVERGENCE. The Art Accelerator seeks works that delve into the breadth and potentiality of artistic practice, focusing on expanding thinking, methods, and toolkits. Artists should explore diverse ethos, mediums, and tools, pushing the boundaries of their creativity and challenging conventional norms.

1952 Africa celebrates African art, culture, and history by supporting diverse artistic expressions. This creates an ecosystem where artists thrive beyond local constraints. The organization will accept applications until 11:59 PM (WAT) on July 30, 2024. Prospective participants should submit their applications early to ensure consideration.
