Algeria Suspends Major Art Festivals in Support of Gaza

Algeria’s Culture Ministry announced the suspension of all major art festivals this summer in solidarity with Gaza, which has endured devastation from an ongoing Israeli offensive since October, according to Anadolu Agency.

Culture Minister Soraya Mouloudji stated that the ministry will focus on activities that underscore Algeria’s support for the Palestinian cause.

Mouloudji emphasized that this decision reflects Algeria’s steadfast support for “the Palestinian cause” Each summer, the ministry typically hosts several major art festivals, including the Timgad International Cultural Festival in Batna and the Kazif International Festival in Algiers.
