Art Bridge Project, in collaboration with AMG Projects, has announced the upcoming group exhibition, “Fluidity”. This exhibition showcases a diverse group of figurative artists who delve into the notion of flow and movement as it permeates every aspect of our lives. “Fluidity” positions the medium as the message, emphasizing the intricate techniques employed by each artist and their exploration of materials that require tactile manipulation and transformation.

Based in Lagos Nigeria, AMG Projects aims to build a platform to facilitate broader social access and global opportunities for emerging artists and curators. Through its program, the gallery hosts a portfolio of contemporary art and ambitious projects geared towards promoting curiosity and thought within post-colonial and socio-political contexts in Africa.
Art Bridge Project is a community-based visual art organisation working at the intersection of artistic exchange, creative knowledge production, and curated projects with a mandate to educate artists and stretch the breadth of their practice. Since its inception in 2017, Art Bridge Project has mapped out visionary artists and provided a platform for collaboration, community building, experimentation, and research. Through strategic partnerships with art institutions and artists, we facilitate dynamic art-related programs and create rare opportunities for artists to explore frontier mediums and test out ideas. Amid the changing cultural landscape, technological advances, and globalisation, Art Bridge Project aims to create a space where different knowledge intersect and radically inspire artists to produce creative works informed by ordinary everyday experiences.

The exhibition, ‘Fluidity,’ features works by innovative artists who blur the boundaries between form and formlessness, inviting audiences to contemplate the fluid nature of human experiences. Stanley Ugonabo masterfully creates ethereal figures that embody a delicate interplay of dream-like states, vulnerability, and moments of solitude. Through a meticulous printmaking process, Nneka Chima transports viewers to nostalgic settings and childhood memories, where fact and fiction, curiosity, and imagination intertwine.
Using the flowing nature of watercolour, hazy backgrounds, and subjects immersed in daydreams, Akanimoh Umoh merges reality with fantasy, depicting chaos and peace as integral aspects of the human condition. Seyi Akinwumi visually reconstructs real-life experiences, capturing fleeting moments of happiness, inner struggles and complex emotional states. Kehinde Awofeso’s paintings challenge societal norms and rigid categories, embracing a multifaceted identity beyond gender and sexuality.

To transcend the physical realm and deepen the exhibition’s impact, “Fluidity” is accompanied by original poetic compositions by Ayodele Olofintuade, Egbaiameje Omole, Joseph Omoh Ndukwu, and Prince Charles. These beautiful poems capture the essence of fluidity and further engage the audience in a thought-provoking exploration of the exhibition’s themes. Curated by Tony Agbapuonwu, Fluidity invites viewers to question fixed notions and reimagine the constraints of certainty that confront our society.
The exhibition will be on view from the 22nd of July till the 5th of August, 2023.
