By stripping away utilitarian functionality, Mohamoud encourages contemplation of the remaining artifice. Among the captivating installations, a prairie of black steel dandelions is a poignant tribute to lives lost to police violence. The exhibition is a powerful metaphor for the strength and endurance of the Black community. Visitors are invited to sit amidst the dandelions. They create a tranquil space to recharge before confronting the world’s racism and hatred.

The striking shea butter triptych, “Gluttony, Gluttony, Gluttony.” is carved from ethically sourced shea butter. The installation aims to haunt reflections of young African girls who harvest shea nuts to shed light on the exploitation of child labor in Africa. This installation critically examines North American consumption habits perpetuating such injustice.
